Going home for Thanksgiving was wonderful. Good food, good company, and a chance to raid my mom's closet. There's something nostalgic about playing dress up and "borrowing" her clothes. With a shared love of all things fashion, it's surprising that we have such different styles. My mom is more eclectic, with a love of unique pieces, vintage, and one-of-a-kind pieces. She has a knack for picking out the most surprising pieces and styling them in unexpected ways. I am much more classic and simple. I just love clean lines and believe less is more. Perhaps that's why we match so well. My mom is always pushing my fashion boundaries and showing me different ways to wear things. When she showed me these vintage snakeskin slingback shoes she recently bought, I just had to "borrow" them. Permanently. They pair seamlessly with my winter staples; chunky sweaters and leather pants. It's taken me years to find the perfect leather or faux leather pants and I finally found at Aritzia. They stretch and fit like a dream. I'm too scared to own actual leather pants (they just seem so uncomfortable), but these fit like my favorite denim jeans.
